Kia Ora, I'm Michelle Scott, I'm a Midwife who works in Gore Maternity unit.
I've been a midwife in Southland for almost 20 years, much of that time as an LMC and now as a Core Midwife.
I live in Gore and have three adult daughters.
I might be one of the Core staff you meet during your pregnancy journey, either at the birth, where I support your LMC or during your postnatal stay.
I love caring for families during the first days with their new baby, helping you feel confident before you head home.

I am a mum to 6, I live rurally and have a passion for providing rural woman and families with continuity of care, informed choice and decision making throughout their maternity care. I treat every woman as an individual and believe that the pregnancy journey is different for everyone, therefore care is tailored with the woman for the woman.

I am passionate about rural midwifery and supporting women and whānau through a very important time in their lives.
My goal is to ensure families achieve the best experience possible. Midwifery partnership promotes a safe space for the sharing of knowledge and the latest research, as well as encourages whānau involvement and engagment in informed decision making. Midwifery care is individualised and I am passionate about supporting families to make the decisions that are right for them.

I have supported many families in Gore and surrounding areas since becoming a midwife. I am now supporting my colleagues to continue to give great care while doing my best to make positive changes for birthing in our area through research and improving evidenced-based practice.
